[crowd whoops] ...a few of us went on to do other shows on Broadway, such as "A Bronx Tale," "Hairspray," Carole King's "Beautiful," and "Motown: The Musical" just to name a few.
JOHN: And you know, we knew we wanted to sing together outside the theater, but we didn't know what we wanted to do eventually.

So like I said before, my name is John Michael Dias.
I'm from Tiverton, Rhode Island.
[audience whooping] Oh.
You're not from Rhode Island, but thank you for the support.
Um, you know, I grew up with a mother, who was a nurse, and my father, who was a police officer.
So very practical jobs, right?
So they, when I told them I wanted to be a singer... for a living... [laughter] ...they had that very same reaction, actually, um...
So, you know, eventually they became supportive because they found out that I was okay at it.
And they said you're gonna go to school, you're gonna go get your degree so you have something to fall back on.
We love that, right?
All you parents have said that to your kids, haven't you?
Yes, that's right.
But that's why I went to Boston Conservatory, where I met Dominic Nolfi here.
DOMINIC: That's right, that's right.
JOHN: Yeah.
And pounded the pavement for a few years.
Um, went to about 13 different auditions for this show called "Jersey Boys."
Yeah.
Over the course of two years.
Um... Yeah, I know.
Um, and I finally wore them down, and they gave me the part of Frankie Valli in the Chicago Company of "Jersey Boys."
[cheering and applause] Thank you.
You know, we actually have not just one Frankie on stage tonight, we have two.
So you know what's better than one Frankie.
TOGETHER: Two Frankies.
[laughs] JOHN: So...
So how do you feel about some "Jersey Boys" tunes?
Is that okay?
