welcome to between the covers summer series where we Spotlight South Florida authors I'm Anne bocock and I'm here with former NYPD special investigator entrepreneur and author Michael Solomon Michael's latest book shows a whole new side to his writing it's a love story with a Twist under the Divi tree tru love needs no reason please welcome the author Michael Solomo pleasure to be with you all right this is a departure from your previous nov which was a thriller dealing with terrorism we have a love sto about this I guess it's my feminine side coming out I don't know it's um you know it's a story I've had in my mind for a while and uh I decided to put it together it deals with a couple who's retiring wealthy and uh with a woman who been around the world but never to Paris and he decides he's going to surprise her with a trip to Paris and surprisingly he studies French that she has no idea he has and it just takes off that way and it's it's got a couple of twists in it and I said it's got to have a different twist an that's when I came up mystery part of it it is a Tw it is as you said a romance story slash medical mystery I was hooked right away so I'm thinking did this come out of your imagination is this real there's this I'm not going to give too much away but there is this baffling medical condition that Matthew has and while he has this condition he's not aging he seems to be locked inside his own mind and it has to do with the third eye how much can you talk about without spoiling it well anybody out there who's meditated knows the third eye Theo the pineal gland in the head and the I guess the mystics on the overseas in India and wherever they're setting up all of these Mystic Clairvoyance and everybody else believe and there is some medical history studies on it we believe that th gland in the brain is the third eye in the body and it what controls the clairvoyancy it controls our sixth sense so to speak where we can suddenly realize that the phone's going to ring and who is it and you know and we I mean it's ha people all the time the doorbell rings they know who's there before th answer it and they're anybody you know the phone ring there they are and what happens because he um has this condition and his pineal gland is actually over producing melatonin which is the only the only thing of vanilla gland does in the human body it overproduces it it puts them in a state of sleep but he's not sleeping and not in a coma he's in a deep state of meditation which is being controlled by his dreams that was so much fun and tw ist and to me the twist is the love story is that of a mature long married couple it's congratulations on that about just 20 year olds yeah well that's the problem today only all the love stories you see today youn you remember Love Story by it was just saying he was a from college and and uh they grew up but this thoughts top and it flashes back to when they met in school and the things she's done uh to help him along the way and he he was a former police officer who retire detective went into business was very successful as an entrepreneur fi retired and said now I could wo rld and uh that's what he did fl ashes back from both sides the wife is dreaming back and their dreams sort of like meld together we meet Matthew airplane in the right in the beginning of the book he's on his correct a robe is a special place for him for you as well I've been here about 30 times Aruba is a special Island I mean it's it's almost guaranteed good weather it's the people down wo nderful it's just a nice pl vacation yeah the other thing that I took away from this book is that life can change in an instant absolutely it doesn't take much I mean this whole started with them going out the day after he retires he's playin golf and he's got this secret trip planned for his wife and he gets stung by a bee in the course now why did I make it a b of a mosquito or any other insect because honey contains natur and I figured if the honey contains melatonin maybe it comes from some enzyme in a bee so we so in that way tell me give it a little more truth to it r more flavor you did some homework a little you are a former N the character in the book is also a retired detective and entrepreneur so that's it's a whole lot that that you know about but Carol the wi into full detective mode exactly that's what I did I just reversed roles in t book yeah so she she she's clever tell me a little bit about her she's um uh a smart uh she won't take no for an answer she bucks The Establishment she basically tells all the doctors who said we don't know what's wrong and she says well then I'll find out and she's basically tried it didn't travel the whole world but she brought the world to her because I didn't want to go ing off to India or something and meets a doctor in a medical conference in Connecticut Boston from India who feels he has the answer to her husband's malady and and in the book I don't call it an illness because it's really not an ill medical malady it's just uh you kn this I mean his blood pressure is perfect his heart beats rates perfect his breathing is perfect everything is fine and his dream state is what's controlling his condition thank you if there was a one-word teaser for this book what would it be true love needs no reason the subtit of the book as a writer you've come up with some rather tense situations um in in your your books does this go back to your NYPD days and can you tell us what maybe was the scariest moment for you on the job walking away from a double as attempt on my life that would do it what do you want readers to take away from this new book live every day to fu llest and and love it love to their hearts content and realize that people do have ups and downs and things do happen and ba book is a medical mystery wrapped inside of a love story the title is under Divi tree Michael Solomon this pleasure thank you well it has in
