Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorship(upbeat music) - Hi, I'm Nevaeh Williams, and I am a high school student.
Williamsport Area High School is a very big school, kinda looks like a college campus if you look at it from outside.
We're known for our education and athletics and our musical performances up here at the high school.
Once you're a part of something at the school, it's like that's your big family now.
(crowd cheering) I really like Williamsport Area School District.
It gives me a lot of opportunities to express myself and be who I really want to be.
I have been helping to work on the yearbook.
I love my yearbook class, and we create the yearbook for the year.
We just use our ideas and we combine our brains and we just get the chance to hear each other's opinions about what we think goes right with what.
I'm a big people person.
Today is Friday!
- Today is Friday!
- I like to engage myself in high energy activities.
(Nevaeh screaming loudly) I love improv, or just practicing improv.
I have learned to really think outside of the box.
You don't have to follow a script all the time.
Just go with the flow.
Now go do your makeup while I sleep.
I do consider myself a very creative person.
Ever since I was younger, I've always had a passion for singing.
My mom always used to call me a drama queen, and I kinda just took that and used it on the stage.
And I can really use my voice in ways that I never thought I could have.
It gives me a way to choose my voice powerfully.
I have found myself inspiring others by my singing, by my performance.
I've noticed that the more I do it, the happier people are.
(crowd cheering) What I love about being an American teenager is the differences that are accepted as a woman of color, and also being a part of the LGBT plus community.
Even though there are hardships in this world and that there are negative people in the world, you can be who you wanna be.
You can still be accepted for who you are and you can still surround yourself with wonderful people.
Once you find the people who love you for you, it's gonna be okay.
I have so much room to dream.
I would love for America to be equal.
Everyone to be equally loved.
I would just love to mend people and mend their hearts using either song or just words of affirmation.
And all I wish for is America to be whole, if you will.
