Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorship(thoughtful music) (bell rings) - It is quite challenging, filming in winter.
I went out the other night on my bike, feeling quite brave, and got absolutely battered by rain and, you know, thrown about.
(thoughtful music) It's a whole different vibe, but it's, I mean, I've always thought this city was immensely beautiful, but I think there's something quite special.
The lights are twinkling, it gets dark very early.
But it's challenging filming-wise because it means we have to start earlier.
We lose the light really quickly.
I'm thinking it will bring a whole other level to the show, which I think you'll be really welcomed.
I'm quite excited to see the show at this time of year.
(thoughtful music) - So this time, we're shooting in the winter, which is very different.
It's a lot colder.
You know, we are used to being here and it being so hot and lovely, and obviously, it changes everything that you're wearing.
Although I do like the roll necks, so I'm kind of happy with doing that.
(thoughtful music) - Winter in Amsterdam is a whole nother adventure compared to the summer.
In the summertime, you could find me at Vondelpark, in the wintertime, you can find me on a boat cruise, cruising through all the canals, seeing Amsterdam Lights Festival.
They do loads of new installations, this year, I think it's about AI art and how they're coming out from the water on the canal side.
It's wonderful to go and see.
And food-wise, I'm really loving veal croquettes.
They're so good and so hearty, and we need that right now.
Otherwise, I'm going to shiver away while we're filming.
(thoughtful music) - What's great about this, it's the first time I have ever been to Amsterdam at this time of year and it's a revelation to me.
We're in the buildup to Christmas.
It's incredibly beautiful.
But I have invested in a much warmer coat, and I'm enjoying drinking a lot of hot chocolate and diving into nice warm bars in between walking along the canal.
So, it's a very different experience, I would say.
