The principal of Central Elementary School will succeed San Diego Unified Superintendent Bill Kowba, the San Diego Unified School District announced Wednesday. Plus, a century-old hotel, destroyed by a fire in 2004, has been restored and is giving a new lifeline to low-income, mentally disabled adults who are at risk of homelessness.
